The CCAF (Co-ordination Council of Armenian Organisations of France) has released a statement expressing trepidation over the resignation of Archbishop Norvan Zakarian, Primate of the Armenian Church Diocese of France.

The CCAF says that Archbishop Zakarian enjoys the support of the entire French-Armenian community and expresses its concern that the Primate’s resignation will be a step backwards in terms of ecumenical bridge building between the Armenian Apostolic Church and the other denominations and might have negative repercussions for the community.

In its statement, the CCAF calls on church leaders to take all necessary steps to respect the unique qualities of diaspora Armenian communities.
