My name is Shant Babayan and I will be taking part in a cycling event on July 16, 2016 to raise funds to support the wonderful and valuable work done by the Armenian Relief Society (ARS) of Great Britain. They are committed to serving humanitarian needs of the Armenian people and preserving the cultural identity of Armenians in the UK and world-wide. Recent examples of which include supporting Syrian Armenians involved in the Middle East conflicts and also supporting Armenians in Artsakh in light of recent aggressions by the Azeri forces.
The event I will be undertaking is a cycling endurance race called “Le Tour du Mont Blanc”
Please see following link for more information: http://www.sportcommunication.info/TMB/index.php?lang=EN
The race is considered one of the toughest one day cycle events in the world and involves cycling a route around Mont Blanc in Switzerland. The course takes us across France, Switzerland and Italy and covers a distance of 330km (206 miles) and 8,000 metres (26,300 ft) of climbing. We will be climbing some of the most legendary alpine passes around the “roof of Europe”. Just to put it into perspecitve, someone once siad “it would be like cycling from London to Swansea and cycling up Mount Everest on the way”! This is by far one of the toughest challenges I’ve undertaken to date, hence the request for sponsorship to support The Armenian Relief Society as my efforts will certainly be more focused knowing that it will be supporting such a great organisation.
The Armenian Relief Society of Great Britain is a registered UK Charity #327389. For details please visit the Armenian Relief Society GB facebook page.
Thank you so much in advance for your consideration and support.
