  COMMUNITY SUNDAY SCHOOL

  K. Tahta Armenian Community Sunday School Classes are held every Sunday from 10:30a.m. to 2:00p.m. at Twyford Church of England School, Twyford Crescent, Acton, London W3 9PP.

The Sunday School offers parallel classes both in Eastern and Western Armenian to pupils aged between 3 and 16 years old, and it is composed of the following three sections: (1) Nursery Section (two years); (2) Pre–academic Section (two years); and (3) Academic Section (nine years). Classes are also offered to adults wishing to learn either Eastern or Western Armenian.

                                                   ARCHBISHOP YEGHICHE GIZIRIAN VISITS LONDON

Archbishop Y. Gizirian who was Primate for the United Kingdom from 1982 up to his retirement in 2002, is currently in the U.K. on a private visit.  To welcome him, a reception was held on Sunday 13th of March at the Armenian House.  Present was Bishop Nathan Hovhannisian, Primate of the U.K. together with representatives of the ACCC, the St Sarkis Trust, the ACCC Ladies Committee, the St Sarkis Ladies Committee, the ACCC's  Executive Committee, Youth & Culture Committee, Church Committee, Church Deacons and others connected with the St Sarkis and the St Yeghiche Churches. 

Bishop Hovhannisian toasted the health of the Archbishop and words of welcome were said by various community members.  Mr Ara Palamoudian, Chairman of the ACCC expressed his happiness in finding the Archbishop is good health and enjoying his retirement and in giving him a small resume of the past two and a half years - the period of the Archbishop's absence from the UK - he informed him of the fact that the Community's Church previously named "St. Peters" had now been completely renovated to splendid standards by the benefactor, Mr V. Manoukian, who in accordance with his original declared intention, had made the church available to the Armenian Community & Church Council for all ecclesiastic purposes.  The Church had been re-consecrated the St Yeghiche Church, and the Community was most grateful to Mr Manoukian for his generosity.  Mr Palamoudian mentioned that Archbishop Gizirian would undoubtedly be interested in "St Peters" which had been the Community's Church during the whole of the 20 years of his Primacy.  Mr. Palamoudian pledged to the Archbishop that the Council will continue to hold Church Services in the now-named  St. Yeghiche Church as the Community's main Church in Kensington and the Council will do their best to serve the community. 

In his reply Archbishop Gizirian expressed his pleasure at seeing the Community in good form.  He acknowledged the various Committees which had come to welcome him and encouraged them to do their utmost for the benefit of the Community.  He particularly stressed the importance of fundraising and the duty of all Armenians to contribute towards the Church and Community activities and he especially stressed the fundamental need for a Church Hall and community facilities where community members could congregate..
