ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING OF THE CENTRE FOR ARMENIAN INFORMATION AND ADVICE ( CAIA )
                                                          HELD ON 12th NOVEMBER, 2005

PRESS RELEASE ISSUED BY MR VAHE PAKLAYAN, CHAIRMAN OF THE TRUSTEES - CAIA:

CAIA HOLDS A VERY SUCCESSFUL AGM

We are writing to inform you that a very productive and successful Annual General Meeting took on Saturday 12th November.

The AGM began with CAIA Chairperson Mr Vahe Paklayan thanking everyone for

their attendance and support since the last AGM. Following the vote of approval, by members present, of the accuracy of last year's AGM and EGM minutes, Mr Paklayan addressed members by summarising the achievements of the Board of Directors and the

challenges facing the organisation. Much of his address had been circulated to member's prior by post with the AGM Notice. Chief Executive Officer Mr Misak Ohanian who provided a brief report about CAIA's activities and services followed him. The next item on the agenda was to receive and approve the Financial Statements of the company for the year ending 31 March 2005 including the Auditors Report. CAIA's Treasurer, Mr Karen Harutunyan presented and explained the difficult financial situation the new Board had inherited following their election in October 2004. CAIA's auditor Mr David Poynter from Dominic Hill Associates provided supplementary comments and explanations to this agenda item.  Dominic Hill Associates were reappointed unanimously by members as CAIA's auditors for the ensuing year.

In the section dealing with any other business, the Chair announced that the Board of Directors had decided to increase CAIA's membership fee to  £10 for single members and £15 for couples, as there had not been an increase for almost 15 years.

There then followed the election of 4 new Trustee/Directors in accordance with the regulations within CAIA's governing document. The four candidates elected were Mrs I Aghabegian, Mr S Gregorian, Mrs K Alexanian and Mr A Gregorian. They join the five existing members of the Board. The two other candidates, Mr L Agulian and Ms H Chamlian (S C James) were duly invited by the Board of Directors to join the Management Committee as non-voting co-optees for their much appreciated skills and experience.

The new Board wishes to thank all CAIA members who took part in the AGM either in person or by proxy as well as the united effort of all CAIA members to help rejuvenate the CAIA so that it continues serving the Armenian community.
